Student Insurance Advisor Location University Park, PA :

AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Student Insurance Advisor to assist with reviewing and processing paperwork and responding to and/or directing students/clients to appropriate departments or functional areas to meet various student needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following :

  • Answer/screen telephone calls. Greet/Assist clients. Collect & distribute mail. Answer/forward Student Health Insurance emails. Monitor/advise student(s) with enrollment processing. Act as a resource to clients regarding Student Health Insurance procedures, Penn State requirements, and Student Health Insurance procedures.

  • Assist University Health Services staff with enrollment confirmation. Assist UHS financial staff with information retrieval for old files and holds. Act as liaison between student(s) and medical insurance vendor.

  • Collect applications & premiums for insurance plans, put them into PNC, and forward them to medical insurance vendor for processing after the enrollment period deadline. Explain Qualifying Life Events (QLE) enrollment processes. Monitor late enrollments and QLE enrollments.

  • Explain mandatory health insurance requirements to international students. Explain deadlines to all students and the consequences to international students of being non-compliant. Place non-compliant student accounts on hold. Process late waiver forms and confirmation of Medical Evacuation/Repatriation enrollment. Remove hold from student account once late fee and appropriate application/premium or waiver form is completed.

  • Collect late fees from non-compliant international students. Log onto the sheet and do a late fee memo and send the memo and late fees to the Bursar's Office.

  • Assist with insurance concerns and problems. Act as liaison between Student Insurance Coordinator position (medical vendor employee) and student(s).

  • Review weekly the visiting scholar's report and update PnC. Process weekly dental and vision error reports and respond to dental and vision vendors.

  • Assist Penn State Global with insurance compliance for student and their dependents. Assist Penn State Global with visa inaccuracies/corrections as identified.

  • Type, edit & proofread forms, correspondence, & reports. File appropriate documentation. Do inventory on supplies and do general store orders when necessary. Assist with review of Student Health Insurance procedures.

  • Reviewing sponsor insurance plans - annually - and working with Sponsored Relations in PSG to contact/follow up with sponsors.

  • Assist Graduate Assistants, Graduate Fellow, and Graduate Trainees with the Workday enrollment and waiver processes. Process Workday events for these students. Complete DIMC creation of PSU ID# if applicable. Complete enrollment in PnC and Lion Health for weekly file adjustments.

  • Audit the medical insurance information imported into PnC to verify accuracy/consistency. Process/monitor LionPATH billing Student Insurance Premium Waivers. Process/monitor the failed payment reports from the medical insurance vendor.

This position typically requires a High School Diploma or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
