Job Description

About PrePass

PrePass® is North America's most trusted weigh station bypass and toll management platform. We’re transforming how the transportation industry operates—creating solutions that keep trucks moving safely, efficiently, and compliantly. This means making bold decisions and building systems that support not only fleets but the broader economy. It all starts with enabling commercial vehicles to keep rolling with seamless toll management, weigh station bypass, and safety solutions. It’s what we do best, and we do it to meet the demands of the road every day.

That’s why people join us: our solutions are implemented in real-time, on highways and interstates across the nation, helping fleets go farther, faster. This work challenges and rewards, presenting complex problems that need ambitious answers. We hire bold thinkers with a heart for impact, a passion for progress, and the optimism to shape the future of transportation.

Position Summary

PrePass is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of our software applications. In this role, you will be an expert in testing processes and technology stacks, with a deep understanding of how QA integrates with other teams. You will contribute to test strategy design, mentor teammates, drive quality excellence, own projects from a QA perspective, and actively participate in our Scrum process. You will also bring expertise in API testing, proficiency with Git, knowledge of security testing basics, and experience with test case management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Design: Assist in designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, including manual, automated, performance, and security testing. Develop test plans and automation scripts to validate user requirements.
  • Testing Execution: Conduct functional, regression, smoke, automation, and performance testing to validate application functionality and reliability.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert in the team’s testing processes, technology stack, and testing tools. Maintain a deep understanding of how QA integrates with other teams and be the go-to expert for at least one application in the value stream.
  • Automation Expertise: Develop and maintain automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium.
  • API Testing: Create and execute API tests using Postman or ReadyAPI to validate responses and work with different API formats.
  • Version Control: Utilize Git for version control, including branching, merging, and collaboration with development teams.
  • Security Testing Basics: Identify potential security risks during testing and collaborate with security specialists as needed.
  • Test Case Management: Create, organize, and track test cases and execution results using test case management tools.
  • Project Ownership: Take ownership of quality in assigned projects, proactively identifying risks and mitigation strategies from requirements gathering to post-release validation.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and acceptance criteria. Help prioritize technical issues and bugs with the product team and engineering managers.
  • Process Improvement: Document QA processes, including testing lifecycles, test case standards, and automation code documentation. Identify and mitigate technical debt before it becomes a larger issue.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Make well-reasoned decisions within the team’s area of expertise, leveraging proof of concepts, tests, and research. Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Mentorship & Training: Proactively mentor teammates and provide training opportunities to enhance team redundancy and capability.
  • Scrum Participation: Actively engage in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure adherence to Scrum principles and practices.
