Job Description

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points in the context of electric vehicles.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback, market trends, and industry best practices to inform UX design decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Engineering, to identify user requirements and translate them into actionable design solutions.
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and interactive prototypes to illustrate design concepts and user journeys.
  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for in-vehicle displays, that can also be translated into mobile applications, and web platforms.
  • Ensure seamless and consistent user experiences across various touchpoints, considering accessibility and usability principles.
  • Collaborate with the development team to iterate on design solutions based on feedback, usability testing, and user research insights.
  • Assist in usability testing sessions to validate design choices and make data-driven improvements.
  • Continuously iterate and refine designs based on user feedback, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Prepare design documentation, including style guides, design specifications, and interaction guidelines, to ensure design consistency and facilitate development handoffs.
  • Collaborate closely with visual designers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design concepts with brand guidelines and technical feasibility.
  • Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and presentations to communicate design concepts and progress effectively.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, CA. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in UX design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in UX design in the automotive or transportation industry.
  • Proficiency in UX design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, InVision, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and interaction design.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying user insights to inform design decisions.
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, embracing feedback and iterating on designs.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000-$160,000
