This position will assist with the management and administration of the admissions and public relations plans of the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy (WINGCA). The incumbent will recruit, screen and select 16-18 year old “at-risk” youth for entry into the academy as a cadet candidate, maintaining databases to track candidate information and key recruitment contacts. The incumbent will also participate in a viable public relations program and present the program as a valuable community youth outreach tool, making group presentations, and corresponding with parents, social workers, school administrators and the media. This position requires travel throughout the state, frequently overnight. Some events take place on weekends.
Starting pay is between $19.24 and $24.00 per hour.
This position is in the 12/64 pay schedule/range.
A twelve-month probationary period is required. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check which includes an FBI fingerprint- based background check.
Required to obtain and maintain certification in the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training as prescribed by the Crisis Prevention institute (CPI).
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
