You’re looking. We’re hiring. Let’s go.

As Ohio EPA’s legal assistant, you will assist our attorneys to analyze and identify legal findings, independently writing legal memoranda to support findings, and assisting attorneys in defining and drafting potential issues in cases. You would research federal and state statutes, agency directives, policies, and procedures to aid in merit decisions regarding complex issues of law. Based on your research, you will prepare appropriate legal documents as needed, inserting required technical legal content. You will draft legal amendments and modifications to agreements and contracts to meet changing requirements or correct existing legal arrangements, as well as preparing necessary exhibits, attachments, and enclosures as necessary.

Additionally, you’ll serve as the primary backup for journalizing and signing official agency documents, helping to prepare and respond to discovery requests and public records requests, as well. You will assist in processing public records requests and assist in processing trade secret requests. You will be expected to log and maintain the tracking of bankruptcy cases involving entities of interest to the agency and assist in indexing documents in the agency’s eDoc system.

Let’s review those main points.
