Job Description and Duties

Office Technicians performs a variety of difficut clerical duties in support of their assigned program area.

Applicants could be placed in either of the attached Duty Statements.  Please review both Duty Statements for position information.

Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. **Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. **Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

    Typing certificates are required for this classification. State departments will only honor typing certificates issued within the last four years and certified from a five (5) minute typing test that meets the CalHR requirements, with a minimum of 40 words per minute. Typing certificate must be included at the time of submission or your application may be screened out. Please contact your local America’s Job Center of California to make an appointment to take a typing test.
