Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a PRN Certified Medical Spanish Interpreter in our Care Management department.
The Medical Interpreter is responsible for providing interpretation and translation services for patients and family members and staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC). Services include listening to, understanding, and interpreting spoken, or translating written, statements and documents from one language to another, in support of the medical treatment plan. In addition the medical interpreter will provide language and cultural support to patients and families and identify any cultural or language barriers to care. This service will require face-to-face interpreting between patients and providers and may also include family members or patient representatives. The medical interpreter will also be required to provide cultural information to the care team in order to facilitate the creation and adherence to a treatment plan and meet regulatory requirements.
Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Certification/Licensure
Medical Interpretation Certification a plus
Experience
Bilingual in English-Spanish
Minimum 1 year of Medical Terminology
One year experience in clinical medical interpretation preferred
