Job Description

The Library Coffee Cafe Barista Team Lead position is one that requires a passion for specialty coffee, representing a brand in a highly visible campus location, and ability to consistently produce beverages and food. This individual must have a disposition for providing excellent customer service, ability to teach and train others with differing skill and knowledge, and set the team’s pace for delivering quality hospitality experiences. The Team Lead will thrive if they possess strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills, and have the ability to multi-task independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serve customers with enthusiasm in a positive and friendly manner
  • Ensures beverages are prepared and served to operation standards
  • Apply and enforce proper methods of safety and sanitation
  • Process financial deposits, accurately handle payment transactions using a variety of tenders, including: Cash, Credit, student meal plans, etc..
  • Develop strong knowledge of menu items and be able to provide customers with product details
  • Maintain rapport with our national brand and collegiate partners and vendors
  • Complete training programming as directed to ensure strong product knowledge.
  • Maintain all equipment, cleaning as required for peak operating performance
  • Ensure daily and weekly cleaning tasks are completed as required in the café, seating areas and storeroom
  • Complete daily inventory of menu items to assist in ordering products
  • Educating customers on specialty coffee and engaging them for feedback
  • Participate in leadership meetings and help fulfil our mission, vision, and practice our shared values
  • Participating in the marketing strategies for the café
  • Opening and closing of café following operating procedures

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Previous supervisory experience in hospitality and/or food service.
  • Previous experience in coffee service is preferred
  • Ability to meticulously maintain a clean and safe food service environment
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be organized and self-motivated
  • Positive communication with guests and co-workers is essential
  • Required to obtain ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire.

This is a full-time, 9 month position that follows the academic calendar. Uniforms and non-slip safety shoe allowance provided, along with a free meal on scheduled work days.
