Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) is seeking to fill a Legal Assistant in our Disciplinary division. This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Duties include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Review final reports, correspondence, subpoenas, and evidence obtained, including CDs, flash-drives and Excel spreadsheet data from Investigators.
  • Creates and submits the Master Electronic Files (MEF) to Disciplinary Counsel, Deputy Disciplinary Counsel, and Associate Disciplinary Counsel for review to determine an appropriate outcome for the investigation.
  • Coordinates and schedules Review Committee (RC)/Council, and/or Disciplinary Panel (DP) meetings with agency staff and RC/Council/DP members. Maintains reminder system for agency staff members and RC/Council members for RC/Council meetings and calendared deadlines.
  • Creates, assembles, and disseminates the RC/Council meeting materials to the appropriate agency staff, RC/Council members by the assigned deadlines.
  • Will take, review and correspond with Disciplinary Counsel, Deputy Disciplinary Counsel, Associate Disciplinary Counsel, and RC/Council members regarding approval of minutes.
  • Will draft letters of concern, and motions as directed by the Administrative Support Staff Supervisor.
  • Mail continuing education letters to RC/Council members after RC/Council meetings.
  • Provides back-up support for technology issues to agency staff and RC/Council/DP members as needed.
  • Performs projects as assigned by Supervisor Administrative Staff as workflow demands within the department arise, which may include assisting with Licensee record review, preparation of memorandums, correspondence, file organization, assisting Investigators with projects, scheduling interviews, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months experience as a legal assistant, paralegal or legal secretary. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
