Flexible/hybrid work opportunities available for this position (must reside in MO, IA, AR, KS, KY, TN, IL, or FL). This is not a fully remote position.
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Instructional Designer to join our Center for Teaching and Learning. This role involves a diverse range of responsibilities including assisting faculty in the design and development of courses and programs, providing Learning Management System (LMS) support and training (Canvas), conducting instructional quality reviews, participating in service and committee work, implementing new technologies, and maintaining professional development. This position will require an individual with strong pedagogical, creative, and organizational skills.
This position may be eligible for telecommuting/remote work for a portion of the workweek per Southeast's Flexible, Hybrid, and Remote Work Policy. This is not a fully remote position.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and various stakeholders to design curricula, instructional materials, and assessment strategies.
- Support and train users on the LMS.
- Maintain processes for the review and the improvement of instructional material quality.
- Participate in committees and service work related to instructional design.
- Research and implement new instructional technologies.
- Stay current with trends in instructional design and technology associated with the delivery of instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related field (official transcripts are required when an offer of employment is accepted)
- Minimum two years of experience in faculty development, teaching in higher education, or instructional design
- Experience in developing educational curricula and programming
- Knowledge of course design, pedagogy, and assessment at the post-secondary level
- Ability to work with a broad range of university constituents including administration, faculty, staff, and students
- Strong problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various educational technology tools
