The Health Sciences Division at Sinclair is currently seeking candidates for a tenure track opening in the Health Information Management Department for August 16, 2024. The following are some of the benefits that full-time faculty with Sinclair College receive: · Tuition waiver for employee and dependents for all Sinclair courses and programs · Structured opportunity for advancement and promotion · Support for continued professional development and education · STRS pension participation, with 14% employer contribution · High quality programs and events for work-life balance Principal Accountabilities Satisfactory performance of the six Critical Performance areas required for all full-time faculty: · Scholarship and Professional Growth: Maintain and seek to improve currency and competence in the discipline and as a teacher. · Teaching and Learning Facilitation: Participate in the continuing development and implementation of the department's curriculum through teaching that reflects a strong commitment to fostering student success. · Assessment and Evaluation: Implement evaluations according to established standards and use assessment data to continuously improve teaching and learning. · Student Development: Through in-class and out-of-class initiatives, actively seek to advance the development of individual students and their capacity to meet their educational goals. · Curriculum Design: In collaboration with colleagues, actively contribute to the continuous review and revision of the department's curriculum. Must exhibit advanced computer proficiency, alongside the capability and time-management skills required for the effective development and revision of online courses. · Workplace and Community Service: Contribute to the operation and advancement of the college through committee service and other activities. Extend professional expertise to the community served by the college. · Compliance with the terms and conditions set forth in the Full-Time Faculty Handbook and the Full-Time Employee Handbook. · Teaching a minimum of 30 semester hours annually during the academic year. Requirements · Must possess and maintain the following licensure: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). certification from the American Health Information Management Association (RHIA preferred). · Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. · In order to receive tenure, applicant will be required to obtain master's degree within a specified time period. · Minimum of one year of full-time experience in acute care medical-facility coding or coding instruction within the last 5 years (additional coding and/or supervisory experience preferred). · Minimum of two years of successful prior teaching experience, and ability to teach classroom and online courses. · Evidence of curriculum design experience, preferred. · A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level, including ability to teach in a student-centered active learning model. · Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community.
