Job Title : Hardware Technician

Location: Markham, ON (onsite)

Duration/Term: Long Term Contract

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Hardware Technician to manage hardware preparation, testing, and maintenance in a fast-paced engineering lab. The role involves working with various system components, handling RMAs, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth lab operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Device Preparation: Prep devices to engineers specifications in a timely manner, adhering to best-known methods (BKM).
  • Hardware Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and assess platforms, including flashing BIOS, updating firmware, and installing OS software.
  • RMA Management: Perform inspections, testing, and failure analysis for RMA returns on systems like VM, SCT, bench, ATE, and SLT.
  • System Testing: Test CPUs on multiple systems to verify functionality and performance.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of all hardware and CPUs in the lab and oversee incoming/outgoing shipments with the Global Logistics team.
  • Data Handling: Perform data entry, preliminary analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lab Support: Assist in hardware assembly, maintenance of test equipment, and ensure an ESD-safe environment.



Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or BS in a related field.
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Experience working in engineering labs or high-volume manufacturing test facilities.
    • 5+ years of work experience (preferred).
    • Experience with RMA processes, PC hardware assembly, and CPU testing.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Windows Operating Systems and Office applications.
    • Hands-on experience with hardware assembly, BIOS/firmware updates, and inventory management.
    • Familiarity with ESD-safe handling and systematic problem-solving methods.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
