Group X Instructor (Part-Time)

Non-Exempt Part-Time

A. Provide quality instruction by actively promoting, leading, and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with current fitness guidelines and practices.
B. Enforce all SRWC policies and procedures.
C. Coordinate with SRWC senior staff

A. Provide quality instruction by actively promoting, leading, and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with current fitness guidelines and practices.
1. Music and video must fit within the policies and procedures of Abilene Christian University
2. Create a positive and friendly environment
3. Begin class on time and do not allow class to continue past the scheduled end time
4. Provide a customer friendly experience and have fun
5. Design 30-minute to 1-hour workouts to include advanced, intermediate, and beginner variations for each exercise
6. Demonstrate and promote proper technique in all classes for the safety of each member

B. Enforce all SRWC policies and procedures.
1. Coordinate attendance and enforce check-in policies
2. Ensure that participants sign-in or swipe their cards at the card reader
3. Contact an SRWC staff member if you are uncomfortable enforcing a specific policy

C. Coordinate with SRWC senior staff
1. Notify senior staff regarding your upcoming availability prior to each semester, when sick or unable to teach class, to report equipment that is in need of repair and any other problematic situations that may arise
2. In case of emergency, call 9-1-1, and notify senior staff
3. Send new certifications to senior staff

Maintain group exercise and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR and AED certifications

1. Group exercise instructor certifications from one of the following: Zumba, NASM, AFAA, ACE, ACSM, RYS. Other certifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
2. Experience teaching in a group exercise setting preferred
3. Current First Aid/CPR and AED certification

1. Position requires mobility and the ability to lift heavy weights
2. Attention to detail concerning both visual and audible cues
