Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Equipment and Service Technician will play a critical role in running our housing factory by: 

· Building fixtures, jigs and tooling to increase production rate, quality, and safety. 

· Maintaining critical factory equipment by performing preventative maintenance and repairs.

· Overseeing the machine shop organization cleanliness and safety. 

· Assisting production teams as necessary to meet fluctuating rate demands.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Using machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, saws, etc.) to produce precision tooling to be used on the production line. 
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on critical tooling and equipment on the production line and machine shop. 
  • Design simple jigs and fixtures to support production line needs. 
  • Troubleshoot equipment, jigs and fixtures when issues are found.
  • Assist production line as needed with fluctuating demands. 
  • Ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine failures efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure production.
  • Achieve and maintain equipment uptime targets to support production goals.
  • Oversee the management of tools and spare parts within the machine shop, ensuring that all inventory is systematically organized and readily accessible.
  • Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the workshop environment by implementing the 5S methodology, fostering a safe and efficient workspace for all personnel.
  • Support the implementation of improvement projects and new equipment installation.
  • Maintain preventive and corrective maintenance records.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years’ work experience building/repairing mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and mechanical/electrical schematics.
  • Welding knowledge, ability to weld metal.
  • The ability to root cause electro-mechanical issues. 
  • Desire to learn and grow as a mechanic, tool-builder, and technician.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Office, Teams, Excel, SharePoint). 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an often-changing startup environment. 
  • Being fluent in both written and spoken Spanish is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, walk, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally required to visit job sites, city offices, and other related activities
  • Required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
