ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a (Permanent) position from (Tucson, Az)

As the (Mining Engineer), you will contribute to the technical and non-technical aspects of underground mine design and planning for the Hermosa Project as part of a collaborative team. The Entry-Level Mining Engineer will engage in various project phases, from pre-feasibility to operation, supporting mine planning activities and learning from discipline peers.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Assist in the preparation of mine development, production, and operational plans.
• Collaborate with the technical services team to align plans with geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and metallurgical information.
• Work closely with site engineering and construction teams to incorporate the best available site information into plans.
• Support the management of external study consultants.
• Contribute to economic analysis and cost estimating processes.
• Foster relationships with other departments.
• Work under the guidance of senior team members, participating in mentorship opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, or a closely related field required.
• Must pass Background and Drug Screening.
• Entry-level position, 0-2 years of experience (relevant internships considered).
• Exposure to mine planning concepts and software is advantageous.
• Demonstrated commitment to learning and applying best practices in mining engineering.
• Internships related to underground mining (preferred).
• Collaborative attitude with a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with mine planning software packages, especially Deswik (preferred).
• Eagerness to learn and apply technical skills related to mine planning.
• Developing digital proficiency and a proactive approach to learning.
