Job Description
**About Us**
For over twenty years, we have been dedicated to supporting the success of independent optometrists. We have grown into a prominent alliance of private optometric practice owners across the United States. Founded by an optometrist who understands the challenges of private practice ownership, we empower independent owners to achieve their dream practices. Our core value of "people first, always" and our commitment to innovation provide a significant advantage to our membership of over 3,200 optometrists. We help them embrace change, seize opportunities, and position their practices for long-term success. Our members benefit from specialized services, expert guidance from respected industry consultants, metric-based business analytics, personalized account management, exclusive vendor discounts and rebates, continuing education opportunities, and networking events at national, regional, and local levels.
**Books & Benchmarks Service**
Our Books & Benchmarks service offers bookkeeping support tailored for our members, delivered by a skilled team of bookkeepers. Many of our members are small, independently owned businesses that rely on us to help manage their operations. Like many small businesses, they often find it challenging to consistently and accurately track their financials. Our goal is to simplify their practice operations and financial management by:
- Managing bookkeeping and payroll, providing timely and accurate financial statements, and ensuring payroll taxes and forms are submitted punctually.
- Offering an eyecare-specific chart of accounts and P&L layout to help owners better understand their financial statements.
- Pooling financial data from members and providing population-level benchmarks, enabling them to assess their practice performance effectively.
**Role Summary**
We are looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to maintain the financial records for a portfolio of optometric practices. This role involves coding transactions, reconciling statements, managing monthly closings, and overseeing payroll for our member practices. As we expand our services, responsibilities will also include managing accounts payable and assisting with bill payments.
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the bookkeeping and financial reporting process for independent practice owners.
- Assist in coding transactions and collaborate with owners on decisions regarding equipment purchases.
- Reconcile accounts and close books on a monthly basis.
- Support the payroll process, including payroll processing, tax payments, and filing payroll reports.
- Manage up to 60 client practices each month.
- Provide feedback and guidance for the development of our services.
**Requirements**
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto Payroll, ADP, and/or Paychex is preferred.
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other functions) and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management abilities, decision-making skills, and attention to detail.
- Well-organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-directed and capable of working remotely.
- Committed to collaboration and teamwork.
- Ability to adapt and succeed in a dynamic environment.
**Join Us!**
If you are passionate about supporting independent optometrists and want to be part of a collaborative team, we would love to hear from you!
