Job Description

Bread 'N Batter Co. is a family bakery situated in the heart of Milton, Ontario. Upon being featured on Food Network's Project Bakeover, the demand has quickly increased, hence, the call to grow our team. We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and self-directed individual that will bring their passion and experience to our well-loved products and work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage inventory of baked ingredients for storage and further processing which include but aren't limited to: cakes, cupcakes, mamon, chiffon slices, empanadas, cake components, buttercreams, cookie doughs, and any components bakers require to finish any regular and featured items
• Apply creamed butters, and corresponding toppings to Ensaymadas and Cinnamadas using appropriate spatulas and cheese graters
• Assist Cake Decorators in applying garnishes and toppings to finish products
• Package baked cakes and pastries for appropriate storage for future use and processing
• Receive suppliers’ deliveries accurately
• Place delivered items in appropriate storage places (i.e. fridge, freezers, storage bins, pantry shelves, etc.) with consideration of FIFO (First In, First Out) to maximize shelf life of all ingredients
• Mix yeast doughs, pastry doughs, and cookie doughs accurately
• Batch out aforementioned doughs into finished products to freeze in preparation for bakers to further process and bake
• Prepare batched dough products, pastries, and cookies accurately to company standards
• Bake batched dough products, pastries, and cookies accurately to company standards
• Cook and prepare empanada fillings to food safety standards using the company recipes (i.e. halal chicken filling, pork filling, and various vegetarian fillings) 
• Safely and confidently use industrial mixers, dough sheeters, stoves, ovens and other baking and food processing appliances
• Prepare signature products (i.e. ensaymadas, empanadas, cinnamadas, and any featured products) in high-volume 
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work space at all times; most specially in between recipes and procedures
• Maintain excellent self-hygiene in working in a bakery with excellent knowledge of Canadian Food Handling and Safety procedures
• May train Baker’s Assistants on occasion
• Complete other duties and responsibilities assigned occasionally due to changes in demand

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have some baking experience
• Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Must be available during Saturday shift and/or opening shifts.
• Must strictly adhere to food safety practices and standards and COVID-19 protocols while preparing products and working within the premises
• A Valid Food Safety and Handler's Certificate is an asset
• 1+ year of Culinary Management is an asset
• Customer Service Experience is an asset

JOB TYPES: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

PART-TIME HOURS: 40 hours per week for Full-Time, less than 30h for Part-Time (+/- depending on demand)

COMPENSATION: $18-$20 per hour

EXPERIENCE:

• Baking: 1 year in a professional bakery, or at least 6 months in a professional Filipino-based bakery
