The Department of Psychology resides in CSU’s College of Natural Sciences, along with seven other departments: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics. The Psychology Department serves approximately 1400 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students, with roughly 30 full-time tenure-line faculty members distributed across five doctoral programs: (1) Applied Social and Health Psychology, (2) Cognitive Neuroscience, (3) Cognitive Psychology, (4) Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science, and (5) Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The Department houses the Tri-Ethnic Center for Prevention Research, a center focusing on social problems that affect rural areas across ethnicities, and an occupational health psychology training program which is part of the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center. The Department also houses the following service centers: the Psychological Services Center, which supports graduate student training in clinical and counseling psychology while providing mental health care; the Aging Clinic of the Rockies, which focuses on research, clinical services, and outreach for older adults in the community; and the Center for Meaning and Purpose, which is about creating and disseminating knowledge enabling meaning, well-being, and health. The Department is primarily located in the Behavioral Sciences Building (BSB), a LEED Gold-Certified building completed in 2010 and expanded in 2014. The BSB includes office space for full-time faculty and graduate students, meeting and seminar rooms, state-of-the-art classrooms, and numerous lounge and study areas. Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Faculty and Director of Training in the Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science Program, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with an appointment date of August 2025.


The successful candidate will have a full-time appointment in the Department of Psychology and will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs in Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science. CSU’s Psychology Department has an undergraduate concentration in Clinical and Counseling and doctoral programs in Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science.

Required Job Qualifications

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, APA-approved, CPA-approved, or substantially-equivalently approved internship, and tenure as an Associate or Full Professor at an accredited institution.

Candidates must also have a record of leadership relevant to the position; current license to practice psychology in Colorado or eligibility to apply for or transfer the license to Colorado by the date of employment; an active research program; a sustained record of research publications; a sustained record of external research funding; and a record of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.

  • A record of advising and mentoring graduate student research
  • A record of supervision of students/interns/residents’ counseling and clinical work

Duty/Responsibility

The DOT has administrative responsibilities for the Department of Psychology’s Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science Program. These responsibilities include but are not limited to being the primary point of contact between the Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science Program and the Department Chair; and being the primary contact between the Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science Program and all relevant accrediting bodies (e.g., APA, PC-SAS) and government agencies who regulate clinical/counseling practice and supervision in the State of Colorado. The DOT is also responsible for oversight of policies and procedures regarding the clinical/counseling training provided by the program, and for assisting clinical/counseling students with relationships with clinical/counseling training sites. The DOT is the designated Department official for communication with clinical/counseling internship matching agencies (e.g., APPIC), and for building and maintaining relationships with internship sites. The DOT works collaboratively with program faculty, communicates with faculty and students regarding training matters, and is responsible for maintaining accurate data needed for accreditation purposes. Finally, the DOT teaches the seminar that introduces first-year graduate clinical psychology science students to clinical professional issues, development and training, including practica and internship timelines, and advises students on clinical/counseling aspects of training.
